Motor control for blower motor, variable frequency driveBig Motors?  Big Power?
Big Expense?

A manufacturing company can have huge energy costs to run production.  However, there is a way to make a huge dent in those costs - A VFD RETROFIT.

A VFD, Variable Frequency Drive, is a speed controller for alternating current motors.  The objective when upgrading to a VFD is efficiency.  In short, any motor that drives a load requiring less than full horsepower is an ideal candidate for a VFD.

The most obvious application would be equipment that uses some sort of throttling mechanism to control load.  These types of loads, such as blowers and pumps, commonly run the motor at full speed and use these throttles to restrict flow to the magnitude that the process demands.  It could be compared to driving a car with the accelerator pushed to the floor while using the brakes to control your speed.  By removing the throttling mechanism and controlling the motor’s speed directly, a dramatic increase in efficiency can be acheived.

One company cut energy costs by $130,000 per year and was able to get rebates of approximately $70,000.
